Default Magnaflow Muffler on stock pipes??

Anyone ever do this? How is the sound? I know there isn't much of a HP increase from exhaust mods but being able to hear the motor a little would be nice.

I have a full magnaflow exhaust. It will probably sound ok. Magnaflows are not very loud, if that is what you are looking for. Cops don't bother me though so it is all good I have a video of it on my car if you have not heard it yet. Do a search for archived threads by me and you should find it.

I got a cat back Magnaflow its 2.25". It sounds good, but I'd save to get a header along with it, unless you like the way the stock exhaust mani. sounds (sort of like a tractor). In other words I would save for all new pieces from the block back.

vteg i just got a 99 gsr and ur video just made my mind up of which exhaust to get i had a tanabe RM on my old ls and it was cool, but to loud. I want something a little more quiet but sounds nice when ur at WOT. I just looked around and full street catback is only like 350 brand new for them is that what you have? Also in ur dyno vid do u got the lightend flywheel installed during that run?

just welding on a muffler is pointless unless you have ITR piping.....

Probably so. I'm not expecting any power gains. Just curious how it would sound. I'm getting a street bike soon so I don't want to waste my money on a catback that will only give me a few HP. The bike will be fast enough.

If more sound is what you want, then by all means go down to a muffler shop and have them cut and weld on a magnaflow straight-through muffler for ya. I think it will sound nice. It will probably cost ~$75.

The lightened flywheel was installed a month after that dyno. I have not been dynoed since. I hope I can break 160 in my current state. Lighter rims now and lightweight flywheel.

BTW, I bought my header because of the exhaust. The stock header has an awful drone at freeway speeds with the magnaflow. The dc 4-1 is quieter than my stock was until 7k.
