Rock Chips on the Hood
How many rock chips do you guys get on the hood of your R? The reason I am asking is I have been noticing imperfections in the paint (some are actual chip, other look like the paint is starting to lift off the hood like a dimple) - I thought the paint was blistering from when I had it painted 1.5 years ago, but they just said they were rock chips.
How can I tell the difference?

Rock chips will most likely chipp off the surface paint only where it got hit.
Bad paint job will lead to paint that looks like it's bubbling.
Only on old cars w/ neglected paint and environmental stress have I seen the paint lift-off or bubble.

I have a few... dont worry about it Just hand on to the car long enought to save for the JDM front end. By that time the front of your car will looks like swiss cheese and you can justify the cosmetic expense!
I have a few. Rock chips tend to be rough, if the paint is lifting it will come away with a smooth edge and will appear to be more like a bilster.
Slightly OT: does anyone have that 3M (or equivilent) clear plastic coating to protect from chips on the front of their cars??

How well does the touch up paint match the rest of the car? Once you do it can you tell where you used the touch up paint if you look close, or does it blend completely in to the paint? I've got 3 or 4 rock chips on my hood I'd like to take care of this spring... also I've got a nice scratch on my rear bumper thanks to some fuckhole at Wal-Mart who decided my car was a shopping cart return dealy.

I've got about 10 - 20 on mine. A friend of mine in Sydney had the hood on his black ITR resprayed after his started looking like a photo from the hubble telescope.... I think it just goes with the territory of having a low profile car.
Interestingly enough I have a few chips on the rear wing/hatch from stones bouncing over the car.

Stupid dumptrucks.
Rocks chips became clearly evident in my previous cf hood. The gel coating just shows the chips much more than the oem paint. But I am guessing my oem hood has just as many chips if not more
