torque specs on valve locknut
im adjusting my valves right now and was wondering if it is necessary to tighten the valve locknut to spec. I have a H23A so I believe the spec for the locknut is 20ft/lb torque. Can I just "hand tighen" or that will propose some danger. Thanks for the info
I tighten mine pretty good (i.e. tight)... forget tightening those with a torque wrench. You won't damage anything...just remember to recheck the clearance after they are finished being tightened.

Check the helm manual. The H22's torque to 14ft-lbs. Don't know about H23 off the top of my head. Using a torque wrench is a good bet unless you've done a whole bunch of them and can get close by hand. If they strip or get loose you will probably not be happy.
