Default Wheel bearing

To the guy who has the how to replace a wheel bearing or anyone else who might know....

I have a moan/squeak coming fomr my rear left wheel... I am unsure of what it is... I thought it was the bushings or the wheel bearing... Can anyone give me a little help here...

First off, it happens regularly, but not all the time... Its sometimes just a little and sometimes alot.. No consistency with that.... However, it increases as speeds go up in occurence, but road noise drowns out it more... It makes the worst noise when braking... It clunks like the wheel is moving... I dont know what it is...

If it increases with speed it is the bearing. I had the same prolbem with my lude.

easiest way to tell, jack up the side that is squeaking, push in on the top side fo the wheel and see if it wobbles back and forth

If you end up needing a rear wheel bearing for a 5th gen Prelude, let me know - I have an extra - brand new, never been installed or used, has lugs on it. Dealer charges $137 for one, I'd sell it for $100 shipped . . . . johdavi@yahoo.com

it might also be a warped rotor.. you wouldn't really feel the shutter when slowing if it's in the rear... most likely not, but it could cause the squeeking by intermittenly hit the nut on the caliper that indicates low brake pad..

thanks... I thougt it could be a warped rotor... I just dont know which one to try or how to do testing to differentiate the two problems.... Anyone know how to seperate the problems and find which one it is... I think rotor cause its bad like it locks and clanks when braking at low speeds or a stop... Its loudest and most annoying when car is stopped and you allow it to roll forward and hit the brake again...

i think for the rotor the easiest way is to take it off and set it on a flat surface... if there's no gaps it should be ok (can get it check at a shop and milled if need be to make sure). Otherwise, it's warped... nopi has the brembo blanks for $36 each but that's for the front

a warped rotor will not allow freeplay in the hub/wheel assembly, and will cause serious vibration issues when braking.... a wheel bearing will cost more noise than vibration

I am abuot to conclude thats its both... It vibrates all the time driving.. Its slight,mild... During braking its not as much fun... I dunno what I did to it... I was in a wreck there and 3 weeks after I got it back this all started... I ended up having suspension rebuilt...

Its your bearing! I have replaced 3 of them on my lude back in 2000 when we had a bad ice storm in OKC. I slid and it a curb. Messed up my suspension and ect. Had no idea the bearing was gone, startind driving and hearing the nasty roaring sound. It took me 3 hubs later to realize that my Spindle was bent like 0.3 milimeters and this caused the bearings to fail!!
