Default whats your take on KICKER?

I was gonna save for some kicker comp vr's or even comps...
then i read this
http://www.carsound.com/cgi-bin/ubbc...&f=18&t=002146
now, i could also buy an mtx for the same price...but they looked cheap and the kickers i heard were great to me...
whats the deal with kicker? i always thought they were great for the price!

Kickers are fine, and if that's what you like then go with them. 90% of what you read, or hear is opinionated bull. Go with what makes you happy. Kicker's warranty service is pretty badass too.

It's my understanding that Kicker used to be great, and still is pretty good, but have shifted more towards quantity over quality, much like Infinity's line of home speakers.

Good speakers none the less.

the only other kickers ive heard is 4 10" comps in a fiberglass box. i was really dissapointed with those. but im sure it was the placement and angle of the enclosure. they were taking up the rear hatch of an eclipse and pointed straight up.

Jl makes a very nice sounding set of coaxles and components in their "XR" line up. I highly recomend these.

Man, I push Kicker car audio EVERY DAY. (Nu Wave audio / Radioshack Franchise, Lewisburg TN) I can tell you that before I started working there, I bought a 500SS from this girl who claimed that she bought it stolen.

I called Kicker, and asked them for an estimate. Lorie Boyer looked up the serial number, and decided to warranty it for me. This amp was 3 years old!!!!!!!! I did write a small disclaimer on the letter that I included with the amp. Regardless, I found out that the amp was NOT stolen, and it was fixed for free 3 years after it was sold new!!! If that isn't custoimer service, I don't know what is...
Kip Litsey was at the Db Drag finals here in Nashville TN 2 years back, and I talked to him for about 15 minutes about the L7's, and even though he was really busy he stopped to talk with me. I was really impressed with his tech info, and "why square". This was INCREDIBLE!!!
I am definitley a Kicker fan to the end...

Thanks, Lorie!!! you are still the #1 Kicker employee in my book!!!

I got a alpine cdm 9803 head unit and a Lanzar opti 800d. Lanzars are supposed to be cheap quality with the exception of the optidrive series. It puts out about 900 rms. So I'm going to give it a shot and try the amp out since it's so cheap($139 on ebay). Also, my L7 is in a sealed box that I got for free. When I get some extra cash, I'm going to get a ported box for sure.

I don't really think it matters if we like them or not. Personally I can' stand Kicker. Especially the Solobarics. Don't like them. Yes I know they do pretty good for SPL. It only matters what you think. Listen to them and some other brands. If you like them then get them. That is all I can really say. I can sit here and tell you about them all day and all this but that does not matter. What matters is YOUR opinion of them. You are buying them not me. Get what you want. Not what we tell you.

Kickers are fine as long as the box is built well. I've heard a solo-baric 12 POUND in a ported box custom built for it. For some reason they sound pretty bad in sealed boxes (all Kickers that is) but in the right ported box they are some mean freakin' subs. Personally I'd go with JL but if you are set on picking up some kickers just make sure you've got a good box (I recomend getting one built to spec for it).
