Default Help with tire removal!

I just bought a 5th gen SH 2 weeks ago, and i decided that its time for a tire rotation, so i set out with a friend to do so. Rotating tires is supposed to be a no-brainer, but it turns out that theres something funky with mine.

I belive that the stock tires are still on my 97 SH (Potenza RE92 or something), and the previous owner hasnt cared enough to rotate them or something, because when i took off all the nuts, the rim would not detatch from the rotor. I tried using all of my weight to pull it off the tire wouldnt budge, is there something i'm missing? Is there a special lock on the stock SH rims or something? I'm very close to using WD40 in hopes that its just rust. I only tried the driver's side wheels, and both of them are stuck solid. Thanks a lot!

I've got a 2001 base and all I have to do is take the 5 bolts off and the mag comes off. I've got the SH mags, and there's nothing holding them onto the rotor except the 5 bolts.

Hmm... so are you suggesting that i throw on some WD40 and pull pull pull? Anyone else encounter the same problem?

Ya, the wheel might be fused to the rotor, I have the same problem, maybe take it to a tire place would fix it?

Peace

that happened to me, all i did was kick it at the bottom of the wheel, and it came off easily...pulling straight back it was impossible.

I am not sure why this happens exactly, my best guess is that there is some rust or some form of buildup. Then when your braking the hub gets really hot causing whatever is between the wheel and the hub to harden. All you need to do is kick it fairly hard start with a few kicks to the bottom then go to the left side then right top if you can. Might want to try using a hammer and using a smooth piece of 2x4 put that on one side and give it a few wacks. Just make sure that your not going to dammage the rim or tire. You don't want to hit it so hard that you warp the rim. Then when you have it off take a wire brush and brush the hell outa the hub/center of the brake disk. Then put something on there to keep it from rusting. I put Neverseize (or whatever that silver **** is called) and haven't had much trouble since.

My $0.02

Well... I can tell you that is thr truth about the heat causing it to lock up.. I had caps on my wheels that were crossthreaded(assuming) when tires were rotated and I went back to get them rotated and the caps were seized on by Kaufman gus somehow or another and they cut them off and told me I crossthreaded em and they melted to it when it got hot... Fact 1: I did not touch them and no one else had since the last time Kaufman rotated the tires... Needless to say they had to cut 3 off and 1 was alright.... Now, I got no caps... ANYWHERE I can find some replacment ones? NOT STOCK WHEELS.. JY no good...ANy Performance stores that seel them that I might be able ot get a match on?

What really happens is the Center of the hub on the rim get corroded on the hub of the car. Makes it hard to get off sometimes... Just put a pair of sneakers on and kick the tire and that should loosen up the rim... If that does not work take a dead blow hammer and hit the TIRE from the inside. That should work if not tap on the inside of the rim.
When you finally get the rim off clean all the mating surfaces with a wire brush and cover all the mating surfaces a anti-seeze (sp).
I mount tires at nights, there have been times that i have to use the 15lb sledge hammer and swing with all my mite hitting the tire, somethimes that does not work and i have to hit the rim!!!! Got to love when people NEVER take care of the cars!
Just be carefull with the car up in the air!

Mine does that sometimes, pick or pull up on the wheel and pull out.. if that doesn't work then I guess do what poweredbyprelude said.
