Why do 4pt harnesses cause damage, but 3pt's dont?
Ive hear 4pt harnesses can break ribs, and smash organs. But why dont 3pt stock belts do that? The lap belts would be over the same area, and the chest belt(s), in the harness's case, would have twice the area of coverage as a stock belt. Can someone explan this? Ohh, and the submarine theory, why wont you submarine in a stock belt?

From what ive read, 3point bars allow alot more movement incase of a accident. Which in turn would help in a roll over or any other type of accident, where parts of the car would be forced on ur body.
Yes, Ive read this too. It makes sense, your roof caves in, you can get outta the way, if your strapped down tight, you cant. However, what doesnt make sense, is that in any accident, particularly front end collisions, is that a 4pt harnesses will cause more damage than a 3pt. Anyone care to explain?

Because the stock 3 points are properly mounted and crash tested and DOT approved. Just installing a set of 4 points doesnt satisfy this requirement. Mounting the aftermarket belts like the 3/4 point belts is a guess and does not restrict movement of the lapbelt in the way the stock 3 point arrangement does.
