DIY Tint
hey guys, i just bought a diy tint kit from napa. its 35% and i put it up to my window and it looks much lighter than 35%. oh well...i was just wondering if any of you have don't a DIY tint, and how hard it was. if you guys tell me its hard or something, i'll just return it and wait to get it done professionally. let me konw ASAP guys so maybe i can put it on tonight.
on just one window window it will look light.but when you tint the rest of the windows they will cut down on the backlighting from inside the car and it will look much darker.
my friend did it his self with 5% limo he bought at nappa or schuck's on his mustang.. i thought DIY paint always turned purple so i never got it.. i'd have it professionally done but his looks VERY NICE, as if a professional had done it, no fade.. it'll be hard to DIY on the back window though as it is with most cars, especially civics.
bought some residential tint from Home Depot. It was semi-reflective. It turned out great but it's wasn't too scratch resistant. Tinted all around but my drivers side window got banged. Gonna strip the windows but hesitant to try the back window. Don't want to mess up the defroster wires

I personally tint windows (www.wedotint.com) and to do cars, especially rear windows, you have to heat it and form it to the curves of the window. Most DIY tint is crap and will turn purple on you eventually. Go for Madico or LLumar film

i have had DIY tint on my car for a year and its hasn't discolored at all.. its 5% on the front and 2.5% in the back
not to hard to do, just gotta be patient to get it done right

I wouldn't really say ANYONE can do it, my friend that has been doing cars for 4 years now still dreads doing some rear windows. It isn't the easiest thing to do to get 1 piece of film for form a very arched window. Not really a unexperienced DIY kind of task, depending on the car of course.
