nice, I want to shave my mouldings, but I dont know who to trust.

how much did that cost? did they blend the paint or repaint the sides?

A lot of shops are tellin me different things and it's way too expensive when repainting the while side, a shop here in NYC wnated 1200 for the job, I laughed and drove away....

but I'm a big fan of shaved moulding....nice....

It looks great, if you can get a body shop to do it well...

but if you ever get hit, even with the slightest ding, your fucked..

Im planning on just painting mine so if something happens , I cna just replace the moldings..

I'm actually getting my moldings shaved off in the bodyshop now. Behind the moldings there's five holes on the door panel and two on the quarter panel on each side. They would have to bondo, sand, and then respray it. My crash two weeks ago ripped my side moldings off so I told the shop to just take all of them off. Judging from the pic shaving it looks clean but I don't think it's worth paying money just to take it off.

Are they welding the holes up? cuz i've heard of people having problems with just bondoed holes, that after time it cracks or is really noticable.

Nah, their gonna bondo it. Before the bondo hards they push it in the holes and have it leak in there. After ithe bondo hardens it acts like a hook. So it shouldn't be able to crack the paint or fall out. Bondo's pretty hard shiet. I used it to clear out my trunk emblems.

dude are you serious ? you need to tell them to weld the holes . my friend had a shop "bondo" the holes with the same technique that you mentioned and the "hook" formed from the bondo fell inside the door . bondo is strong but if you want it to last you better weld the holes . they are just being lazy , WELD THE HOLES

The harder the material, the easier, faster, and more prone to cracking it is. It's materials science for ya.

Don't you think that this would be better addressed in the apperance forum.

You need a backing for the bondo. Eventually it will most likely crack out.
