How much to pay to have a garage install lowering springs?
I called tires plus and they said $350! The springs cast half that. I don't know how to install them, are they easy to install? Can you do the installation with houshold tools? Someone please help since I am not trying to pay 350 to have my springs installed.
There's a nice install article w/ pictures and everything over at http://www.team-integra.net

$350!!! Definately do it yourself. Most tools can be borrowed from Auto Zone for free.

It's not that hard to do it yourself. The only thing you're probably not going to have is a spring compressor, but you can rent one at Autozone. Me and a friend did mine. It was the first mod I ever attempted by myself, and it only took us a couple of hours. Make sure you get an alignment afterwards. Good luck!
thanks a lot the article at integra.net was really helpful, I look forward to installing the springs in the next week or two
thats great that you have the courage to attempt the install on your own. But from experience, i've learned that the first time always takes way longer than ur second. So seeing as how its ur first attempt at installing any suspension component, i suggest you give yourself plenty of time to work and have a buddy to help... Havin a buddy wit a car also helps when u realize that you don't have a certain tool, and ur car is half torn apart. hehe. good luck!

You can get this project done w/in a day maybe two at the most...so just pick a weekend to work on the car and have at it. All you need for this project is a set of hand tools, floor jack, jack stands and set of spring compressor which you can borrow from autozone for a 40$ deposit. Good luck.
Our shop does it for 200 CDN... which is like 80 American haha .. and were not lisceneced, wehave a couple beers and just slap them on like lego.

I guess I'm in the minority. Installing springs and shocks is a pain in the ****! Maybe if I had air tools it would have been easier. But I paid $75 to have my springs and shocks installed at Mach III in SF.

As long as you have air tools... its a joke
I had no idea what to expect... then I just did one side at a time, all honda/acura bolts have anti sease on them, so 98% of the time none of the bolts were be too lodged in..

Also, if this is the first time you work on your car's suspension, just remember...

Sweet, it's been 5 years since I did the springs on the Integra and need to do it again. That last how to really gives some piece of mind.
the first time i did springs on my 98 teg, it took a weekend w/ my dad because we broke a part on the shock(were reusing stock ones
), so it added some time. I just did it again on my 99 gsr w/ 1 of my good friends, and we completed the job in under 3 hours, using hand tools and a spring compresser we rented from autozone, for free. Didn't need instructions at all. Just take your time, and the swap will be very simple...

Yeah if you got the time/tools its not that bad of an install....when i got mine done, needed it done right away
they charged 120 for springs/shocks. but yeah 350 is pretty ridculous.

best part about doing suspension installs is that if you are even remotely mechanically inclined, it's pretty simple to figure out what is going on, even without the use of a service manual. all it takes is patience and committment to the task. definitely have a buddy help you out.
i installed my ground controls by myself for the first time ever a few weeks ago. it took 15 hours..9am-12midnight. haha, so it's best to have help.

are you serious? good god man, thats like pulling teeth lol...what did you have such a hard time with?
oh and 1 hr for lunch

knowing what is involved now, i am pretty sure i could cut that time in 1/2 at least
$350 what are they smoking? There is a shop here that sets up cars for SCCA and for install on coilovers, corner weighting, etc they are charging $110. But it is easy to do yourself.
i just installed ground control coilovers and koni yellows last weekend. it really isnt hard. i'd just strongly recommend having a friend help you, because you will need it (especially when working on the rear). also, i found the spring compressors to be a huge pain in the ***, and they seemed to take forever to put on/take off. luckily since i had coilovers i only had to use them on the stock shocks/springs and not the new suspension. you can do it yourself though. i followed this page step by step and it made it very simple: http://www.bseries.net/html/garage/spring.php
