My girlfriend has a 92 civic sedan ex with auto and 100k miles.
Recently, at a light and with my foot on the brakes..the car would do a little studder..as if it wants to lunge foward..the rpm's dont move and I can only suspect that the tranny is acting up..Anyone ever experience this?

Signs of a high wear tranny. Try throwing some friction modifier at it.

 

Whats a friction modifier???..and where do you put it??

 

It's an ATF addative that you can get at just about any auto parts store. It changes the viscosity of the ATF. Basically, it's like a "snake oil" that really works. You add it to the transmission fluid. While you're at it, you may want to change the tranny fluid.
