Its up to you man... Making a box is easy... Just will take about 4 hours of your time.... The box will cost about $20 to build if you go buy MDF from Home Depot(assuming you know what that is.. or some other home improvement store)...Do you want 10"s or 12"s... did you look at space needed, enclosure type, rms rating, differnces between the woofer sizes, and then finally the brands... Thats how I would decide... Peronsally I would go with the JL's and build a box because 12's hit lower and building your own box is an experience, plus you can get a custom fit real easy... I have built many boxes, everything from sealed, ported,v-tec,fiberglass,mdf,insulating foam(time on my hands, needless to say we dont see anyone else with them, so the results are obvious)... I say go for the 12's if you wanna build a box.. I got 2 10's...lol...love the advice... opposite of what I have... Anyways, decide on what you want... MY prelude has a small space for my subs so i custom built one that hugs th walls of the trunk so tight it takes 10 minutes to get it to slide in... That way I used maximal air space and minimal size while retaining some trunk space... Look at your vehicle and what you think would work... I going to assume the civic is nonhatchback... Thats means youve got a pretty good choice.... Either one sounds pretty good.. They both will run about the same as long *** you build and carpet the box... Who knows...
