Quick question about clutch cable adjustment
I know this a simple question so please for give me. This a 88 civic. I am just wondering which way (clockwise or counter-clockwise) to turn the cable adjustment nut to tighten it? It seems no matter which way I turn it it is stuck. I thought clockwise was the way to go. Should I use some kind of lube to loosen it?
Thanks
Thanks
Is it dirty? You can't twist it at all? It's some kinda plastic so it's not going to rust/sieze. Try some brake clean....my best friend! But for adjustment you don't want too much tension or it will be like your resting your foot on the clutch pedal. Too loose and it's not going to fully release the disk, so you will grind/hard to shift.

To add free play to the top of the pedal turn the nut counter clockwise looking from above. For less free play turn it clockwise. As was stated above too little free play and the clutch can be left in the slightly disengaged condition. This is bad as the clutch can slip, over heating it and eventually cause it to fail prematurely. Too much free play and it will be hard to get it to fully disengage causing shifting troble.
There is a rubber custion that the plastic nut rests on. It has a small cyliner that sticks up and keeps the nut from turning on its own. Pull up on the cable and it should turn freely.

Back from the dead!
Anyhow, how many turns of the nut does it adjust freeplay? Basically, does 1 complete rotation = a certain of mm freeplay added? Thanks.
