Front main Seal on a ZC?
I am rebuilding my ZC and just about finished. I am trying to replace the front main seal (the seal that goes on the oil pump) and don't know which seal to buy.
We bought an 88-89 Integra seal, but that one looks like it is not the right seal.
We bought the Civic front main seal (part number 91212-PEO-662) and its the same seal as the 88-89 Integra.
When we took out the ZC seal, there was a metal ring that had lipped egdes that was attached to the seal. The new seal only has a spring tensioner inside it, but no metal ring piece with lipped edges.
Does anyone know if you install the metal ring inside the new seal? If so, how did you do that as it doesn't seem to fit into the new seal.
Thanks!

If the seal is correct the OD and ID of the seal will be the same as the one you removed. The new seal you have is probably black and has a spring to tension the lip of the seal. This seal is the correct seal.
By the way you described the seal you removed, it should be red-ish tan? This is a seal that is commonly used.
Do not use any part off the old seal.
Be sure to lubricate the od and id of the seal with a lubricant (I prefer Redline engine assembly lube) be sure that you do not displace the lip seal spring tensioner by carefully walking the seal around the crankshaft boss with a very small diameter, blunt tool
and then tap the seal flush with a seal driver or press with your fingers. The seal should be flush with the OP housing.
