Default Noisy valvetrain soon after adjustment..

I recently installed a set of Skunk II stage one cams. After the cams were installed I preformed a valve adjustment to the best of my ability (didn't have valve adjustment tool). The car was still very noisy so I took it to the dealer and had them do an adjusment. The car quited down alot and gained a good bit of power (it wasn't breathing too well until they were properly adjusted). Well now after only roughly 5,000mi the car is ticking very loud. Its not alot of combined noise like when I first installed the cams, just a single loud tick, tick, tick. Does this mean that they didn't adjust one properly or tighten the lock nut down enough or could this be something else? Also what are the side effects of having loose valves besides power loss?
