How to clean intake manifold/throttlebody?
I currently have my intake mani and throttlebody off. While its off, i figured a good ol' cleanin was an order. I took some simple green and a toothbrush, but it didn't work so well. I then took some sandpaper (like 300 and 1000 grit) and used it on the manifold...the silver started to come through, but it still looks dirty somewhat...also, there seems to be some dust residue from the sanding so when i wipe it down with a rag or try to use some polish, it just gets dirty again. Anyone have any other tricks?
thanks.
thanks.
Simple green, tooth brush, wipe it off real good then tape/plug everything up and paint it with aluma blast paint from eastwood.com

That looks damn nice. Does that paint get just as dirty as the stock manifold material? Is that paint easier to clean, once dirty, than the stock surface?
Thans for the compliments guys. Im not sure the exact paint, but it is called "aluma blast". Their was a pic in the eastwood catalague with them painting all kinds of engine parts with it, so I figured it must work on my stuff. I am not sure how well it will hold up because my engine is still in pieces in my garage. Thanks again for the compliments.
what exactly did you mask off?
i'm guessing you disconnected and unbolted EVERYthing right?
correct me if i'm wrong.
that looks damn good.
edit: eastwood.com ios a niagra falls resort lounge or some ****.

I just did my D16Z6 last week...I'm not really happy with the aluminum color of the paint...Looks too polished. The selection of anything around here is ****, I can't find paint, bolts, tools, etc.
