Default B16 maint. ?

glad to be in a b....but

I noticed my motor making a noticeable ticking noise on the intake side of the motor where intake mani...connect to the block.
I think it's just need a valve adjustment, but new to motor maint. b/c i didn't car about the d15 mAINT

btw i just changed the oil 2 days ago w/castrol 10w30 syntec blend.

I'm getting a friend mech to hear it tomorrow, but im just paranoid about my motor staying good now.

Mine was ticking pretty good, and it was misfiring a little at partial throttle at low RPMs. I got my valves adjusted and fixed all of that right up.

I think it needs valve adjustment not for sure but i would be good if you would the adjustment. Also one thing if you want to practice valve adjustment just practice it on your old engine if you still have one.

I was kinda scared to do my first valve adjustment. I got the special tool, which made things much easier. On a 1st gen B16, the intake side should use a .006 feeler gauge, and the exhaust a .007. Its really not that hard, theres tons of write ups on it.

cool yall. i got one of my friends family mechanics to listen to it today, and he only charges like 30 bucks for an adjustment. I might still do it myself IF I can squeeze in some time...seniors are busy @this time of year. it sucks

after reading the c-speed racing writeup I think I'm going to do it on my own. b/c IF anyone I don't know works on my car and screws it up, that would suck majorly.
Good article of tech. ~~now to print all of that out and get ready for wrenching this weekend. Sure wish I was putting some cams in while I do the valve adj.
