Default painting CF

why do people say "paint your cf hood its for wiehgt reduction not for fashion."

last time i checked paint wasnt weightless.

wouldnt painting somthign designed to be extra-light be adding weight to it?

i fail to see the logic, someone enlighten me.

exactly, i don't understand why some people think carbon fiber hoods are "ricey" and tell other people to paint them... well, unless you got the full sleeper look going on, painting your c/f hood IS ricey, because that is fassion over function, as paint does add weight. and for what it costs to have a hood painted a factory color you could buy a performance mod.

cliffs notes: painting C/F hood is fassion over function (rice)

I like my cars matched, the weight of paint is still significantly less than a stock 30 LB hood vs. a paint CF hood..

some people like to show off their CF *bling*, only thing Id leave CF is a duckbill.. Some people do CF for the right reason (weight), others do it for the reason (color scheme to match my sp00n rimz y0!)..

I agree.. if you are buying a cf hood for weight reduction.. a little paint won't matter.. i prefer the dl look.. as opposed to a police attracting cf hood.. color match it.. unless you are a blingbling stunna who wants all the attention..

lift up a quart of paint atleast and tell me if you want to just add that much weight to your hood for no good reason... plus the cost of the labor + materials is probably gonna be atleast 300 or so... but i do admit it is starting to get old to see it even though my car is probably the only car i have ever seen in boise with a carbon fiber hood... hehe

i made a few post about this in the civic forum....cf was made as a weight reduction. some like the look of it, and some don't. so what??? its made to be light and durable.

I guess what i was getting at was that if you even get to the point where you've done all you can (within reason) to your engine, and need to start reducing weight then it probably implies you've invested a shipload of money into that beast and why advertise for police, thiefs that you have a fast car.. unless you like to attract attention... which is kinda a stunna quality.. not so much about the hobby more about being bling bling yo.. just my 2 cents

personaly I'd paint it..Paint doesnt weigh as much when it is dry compared to wen its wet in the can ...I know cf is light but when i had my hood of my crx i found it to be pretty light for stock and wasnt worth buying a cf hood...but I dont race so shaving every pound off would be worthless to me..$300 bux to shave 10lbs or so and i think unpainted hood look ricey/trailer park since doemstic fools run black hoods as well...It makes it look like you couldnt afford to get ur hood painted..looks unfinished...almost as bad as those damn alluminum wings
