Default I finally convinced my parents what I want for my grad present (D16Z6)

I finally convinced my parents that I need an engine for my car, they agreed to buy the engine and I should be getting this within a week

I am trying to get everything together that I need... search came up with wayyy too many unrelated topics - so far I got all of this listed

OBD1 Conversion
92-95 Water Pump
92-95 Timing Belt
92-95 Spark Plugs
92-95 Spark Plug Wires
P28 ECU (Auto)
88-91 Mounts

my car is an auto, was planning on getting the Z6 from NipponMotors... what else should I add to this? They said to keep it under $1500 and so far it's looking about $1100 with shipping

I'm hopin to get some grad $$ also. Or at least a cosigner for a 3k loan so I can get my front end/paint job....misc. jdm stuff like rear spoiler, new suspension, and recover my seats...or i'll be stupid and blow it all on the motor * turbo is tempting...

hrmm so you're getting an auto ecu, huh? Better make sure that your stock transmission has all the bits and ends that an OBD-I auto tranny has.

Hey, what's up all? My college grad present in '01 was my '91 Civic DX hatch 5speed in mint condition. Mint condition that is, until 2 weeks ago when I started blowing blue smoke out the exhaust and burning through a quart every 100 miles. Oil rings are gone, and to replace they need to pull the engine out (or so they say, as I'm no mechanic or even slightly mechanically inclined) to fix it.

Of course, if they're taking the engine out, I might as well have them put in a more powerful one! Is the Z6 an easier swap than a B16? I won't be doing the work myself so will it be cheaper than a B16? I have done many searches on this topic and will continue to do so, but I'd like to hear some opinions anyway. Plus, the car is daily-driven and I live about an hour away from work. I need dependability but am not afraid of the risks a swap presents.

reliability and parts is a key here

it's not a track car, that's why 5 speed isnt a main concern for me ... even though it is a lil faster

your confusing me, what your saying is a manual tranny would work fine, but an automatic wouldn't?

Dont forget a 4-wire o2 sensor, and obd-1 distributor.

Well, when I tried to use an auto ECU, it flashed a bunch of weird codes at me for parts that I don't think the 4th gens have, like auto lockup solenoid (I think it was). I could be wrong.
