Default carbon fiber/kevlar sunroof done....56k jump off a bridge

finally warmed up and I took some pics of the first one we made , construction is two layer carbon fiber with a center layer of kevlar , these will be available in a few weeks but they are hand made so its normally a one week turnaround.

it rivets around the perimeter of the open roof when you pull the sunroof out , I ran a bead of black silicone around mine to seal it up but it fits so tight it might not even be needed.

total weight is less than one lb , the sunroof weighs somewhere around 40lbs.

price is 375 plus shipping.

the 96-00 civic cpe will be finished this week and I'll post pics of that when its finished.

two methods of mounting will be available , one retains full function of the sunroof glass and uses the factory rubber seal , it simply bolts in place of the glass which is the heaviest part of the assembly , the other will anchor like mine , with rivets from the inside.

the next application will be 94-00 integra and we also have an 91-94 SE-R unit already finished.

these are HAND made , they do have slight imperfections but the pattern and the weave is perfect , you will need to specify whether you would want shiny or dull , it impacts the weight of the unit slightly , mine is the dull finish.

Bling Blang ------

Damn the car in the background also has a cage? you must have one serious garage!

Sunroof looks amazing, and I love the fact that it's built for a purpose and not just *bling bling* status.

Can you measure the exact weight saving , stock glass vs. functionnal replacement roof.

I will try to get an exact weight on the OEM glass , the replacement panel weighs less than a lb and I can stand on it....

if you can make one that "replaces" the glass part of the sunroof that would be nice, so i could still open it on hot days.

man that is a nice sunroof, but the stock hood is much heavier and costs the same to get a c/f hood so you would have to have both to make the weight reduction worth the cost

I saved 40 lbs on the roof of the car , that weight is far more beneficial in terms of handling dynamics , plus a CF hood isnt legal in the Honda-challenge.

it can be made that way , a direct replacement for the heavy glass unit and retains all the OEM functions.

96-00 civic cpe
94-01 integra
91-94 Sentra SE-R

dull finish.. good to see someone not using CF for cosmetics, but instead purely for weight reduction..

I'm sure it's all done by machines. When he says he makes these, he means that he buys the sheets of carbon/kevlar fiber and goes from there. Still a lot of work though.

where do you get your info from man , when I say we make these I mean we made the mold from the OEM glass and cut the cloth , mixed the resin and put it in the mold , vacuum sealed it and let it dry.

dont post info you have no idea about , I have at least 60 pics just making the mold alone , shall I post them just to show you

machines

these are HANDMADE by my carbon guys/my HANDS.

He asked how hard it is to weave the carbon fiber. Are you saying you weaved it by hand? Stop being so defensive.
