STILL trying to pull d16a6... tranny hitting frame?
Spend $20 renting this engine hoist.. thought it was gonna be pretty easy. Now when I jack up the engine the tranny hits the frame.. what the hell am I supposed to do about this?
I no longer have the inspiration I had when I started this.

you have to tilt it at an angle. one of those leveler things works good....or do as i did and hold the chain in a different spot to tilt it.

Just to make it easier, take out the battery tray and all the stuff that impedes the removal of the engine and transmission. Or you could simply drop the transmission off of the engine, and pull the motor out by itself. That's what I did for my CRX, but not for the civic. I pulled both out of the civic at the same time.

I would say one of those levelers are the best thing in companion with the hoist. You think you have it bad just try pulling out a motor froma car that the passenger side has been pushed in almost a foot!! Thats how my first parts car was lots and lots of dicking around!! For my second one (motor isnt out quite yet) but I took off everything and anything that could possibly be in its way but then again the body will just get scrapper so it doesnt make that much of a difference what gets screrwed up.

your lucky it's not a B.. the worst part about the swap is trying to angle it in without smashing it into everything.
where in Oklahoma are you? Maybe I could help?I am in South OKC
dirty engine bay:

As I was in the middle of working out the shift linkage **** this huge 18 wheeler comes down my street and I know what for
. I got lucky, the driver was badass and didnt charge me the $50 residential fee and he didnt have a truck with some kinda lift he mentioned so I didnt have to pay $40.. saved about $100 in shipping. Though we did have to haul the ZC off the truck in the middle of the rain, it wasnt too hard though.

Also can someone tell me what or why they did this to the flywheel before shipping it? And how am I supposed to get those 6 12-point bolts in the middle of the flywheel off now?

I could be wrong but wouldnt that engine be from an automatic?? Isnt that the torque converter sitting there??
Damn that is a very clean looking ZC, that flywheel is crazy, hope you didn't want to change it.
Are you talking about the welding? I have no idea. That looks like a torque converter from an automatic, so they should have just threw that thing in the dumpster to begin with. You will need to grind the welds off.

I have never heard of the automatics having less power. Maybe less power to the ground because of the stock slushbox, but it really looks like you are going to have to grind the welds off of the torque converter to get it off to get to the flywheel bolts.
