what FAST engine for my 88 CRX..swap? help..!!
I have a 88 CRX (no motor/tranny)..I am thinking about a H22 cause I know that it would be NASTY! This car will not be for daily driving..but for STRAIGHT LINE DRAG RACAING only!! I know the motor is heavy and the car wont be able to turn well but I dont care about that. How easy is the H22 install? What other motors could I use that would be fast as hell with bolt-ons..I am wanting at least 8.5s in the 1/8th and 13.5s in 1/4th with a stock motor and a few bolt ons...any one help me out...thanks.

Well, for those times you would need a gsr or h22(difficult). Even then you would have to be a VERY good driver to get those times. IMO. But a ls with spray would be cheaper and just as fast. Is it a HF, DX, SI???
h22 would be soooooo pimp, but it is a difficult swap from everything that I have heard. i personally would not tackle an h22 swap myself b/c you will have to fabricate some stuff. i looked into it for a while, but i just can't justify spending $4500 for the swap (that's the going rate for a shop to do it here). i have also heard that handling may not be as bad as everyone says as long as you get some nice suspension peices., but axles are supposed to be stressed if teh car is lowered.
The only motor that will easily bolt into a CRX that can run these kinds of times stock (with just a few bolt-ons) would be a B18C5. An H22A could do at least this good. But it is a cut-and-weld swap. And a GSR motor will not run this fast with just i/h/e unless the car is something really light like a 1988 HF (forget it in an SI!).
