this will be me venting,

so i decide to go out and try to fix the bolts that r screwed up on my car, read about here https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=445134 if u care, and i walk down to the where my car is parked. on the top floor of the parking garage for my dorm that i pay $900 a year to park in, and whose entrance and exit gates have been broken on for almost a month allowing anyone access. once down the stairs and out the door i take a right and see an explorer with a boot on its wheel, the penalty for parking w/o a permit, and i chuckle to my self knowing the shock he will feel when he finds his car imobilized. then i turn towards where my car is and notice something is off. the rear bumper of my car is higher than the car next to it, first thought was man they be crackin down on parkin w/o a permit, then i remember i have a permit. i knew immediately what was wrong and once my car was in full view my fears were proven, there was my car balancing on two jackstands. wheelless. after the intitial anger, rage, and fellings of violation had subsided i tried to make the best of it. at least the rest of the car is there, but now im paranoid as **** that theyre gonna come back for the suspension, gc's and konis. they were just the stock 95 gsr's painted black, not my 17's that i fortunately decided to leave at home in houston. and the i think there is some sort of insurance policy with the dorm that might cover the wheels, and since the price of OEM wheels through a dealer is quite high i might come out ahead. but there might be no insurance and i might be screwed. either way on to the pics of this tragedy.

This is out of hand. I cannot believe that this happened-and they left their jackstands. Did you have lug locks, or an alarm? I would think your insurance will cover it, at least if you have full coverage. Even at worst, a 500 deductable will buy you BRAND new rims and tires, and you could milk lug nuts, locking lugs, and front rotors.

One day your kids will ask where the jackstands came from too....when they use them on their cars.

And Remember- college is not about educating you- it is about them making money, because it is a shittily run business.

Damn dude...fuking thieves never go away Hope insurances covers that stuff.

 

Try to claim the insurance the dorm parking lots have. But I think this is the case where you park at your own risk and the dorms are not responseable for damages, thief, or fire. Kinda like the parking stub you get at one of those airport parking.
Maybe the only way is to claim your own full coverage insurance. Or try to argue about the dorm operators leaving a known busted gate problem unfix and it caused theif and damages to the car inside the lot. Maybe you will have a case here.

i hate thieves... some ******* bastards stole my car last oct. and left NOTHING... no seats, dash, wheels, motor, pieces, nothing. cut the car into 3 pieces and all... at least yours was "just" the wheels

 

that fuckign sucks man. i had a dream last week that my wheels got jacked. i'm about ready to get another set of locks to be extra safe. i know for a fact a LOT of people around my area want gsr blades. ugh. now i'm paranoid again. hope everything turns out for the best..... btw, nice amber corners

If your paying $900 a year to park there then the people who run the parking garage should be held responsible. How many vehicles are parked there for $900 a year? They should have the money to repair the gate. I'd take it up with them.

 

sue the school and say that the broken gate allowed the f'n thieves to get in in the first place!

If you pay 900 bucks a year to park there. Then, I am sure there is something you can do along the lines of having the school pay for it. Your insurance should cover though. I would be very surprised if you ended up having to pay for this out of your own pocket. Just make sure you go threw all your options and then make a decision.

i say you go for school first before insurance...no reason to raise your premiums if you can get it from the school...

Ya know, if punishment for being caught stealing was to lose a finger, we'd have a lot less thieves and would be able to easily tell those who have been caught.

Take pictures and/or video of the gate being broken before they fix it & deny anything.

Since the entrance/exit gates were broken at the time, the school facility should be liable for damages.

Call your insurance if you haven't already. File a police report so they can document that the gate was indeed out of order. Request a meeting with both the dean & maintence supervisor and plead your case.

I feel for you, seeing a teg jacked up & helpless is painfull both financially & mentally.
