Today I was coming to the freeway onramp in third gear. As soon as I hit the vtec crossover point the engine would start to jump or bog. like it wanted to stall or something. So i did it a couple more times to make sure and everytime I tried to go above the vtec point, the car would bog. Whats going on?

 

check your oil

check your oil same thing happen to me, i had to add 3 quarts its was really low lucky that i didn't blow my engine

 

same thing happened to me. Weird as ****. I think it seeped out through the cams seals or something.

I only had to add 2 quarts.

 

It was the oil. I had to add a quart and a half, so now my vtec engages, but now my engine light is on. I got to check that out now. The car runs now like it did before. Thanks for the help again.

 

disconnect the battery and then reconnect it that will take care of the check engine light. Vtec shuts down when you are low on oil as a saftey precaution. Most of the time it will happen going through a turn. Dont let it be a warning sign that you need oil, you should check your oil every morning in your gsr to be sure and safe. It might be overkill but its better than a blown motor, trust me I know.

 

My car was doing the same thing last week...of course, check the oil like the other members suggested...at the same time, you might wanna check your vtec solonoid gasket. I picked one up at the dealer for about 17 bucks...just a suggestion

 

2 quarts is way too low, 3 quarts is just insane.....the gsr only holds about 4.25 quarts anyway.....if i ever ran that low on oil i'd sell my car and buy a bike....scary
