Default Simple Clutch Slave Cylinder Question

On my slave cylinder, the lottle expanding boot thing is torn. I was told it was fine but I really dont think so. Is it ok if there is a little tear in it or is it supposed to be air tight?

I was trying to get pressure in my clutch pedal but i couldnt. I tried bleeding and all that stuff but it just wouldnt get pressure. I just need to know if it is because of the slave cylinder boot.

Thank you

the boot just sits over that little piston. it should only be there to keep it clean and keep foreign particles out. no need to be air tight.

if your clutch pedal is on the ground and you can't get pressure back, i'm betting you need either a new slave or master, or possibly both, but hopefully not. i'd go with slave first. did it look like there were dirty particles in the brake fluid when you bled?

nope they are not leaking. Maybe I am bleeding it wrong? Can someone give me some pointers?
I am basically hooking a tube to the drain hole, and tube submerged ,and pumping like there is no tommroow and it is not doing anything What am i doing wrong or am i skipping a step?

ok, this is what you need to do if it is just bled incorrectly:

1. grab a friend who is willing to sit there and pump the clutch on command.
2. tube to nipple on slave. containter (clear is better) filled with a lil bit of brake fluid. end of tube submerged in fluid.
3. have friend pump pedal a couple of times while nipple is still closed and hold down the clutch. he should not let go.
4. use wrench to loosen nut on nipple and watch all the pretty air bubbles come out.
5. close nipple when bubbles stop coming out. now friend can let go of pedal
6. repeat 3 thru 5 until there are no more bubbles at all
