why such the high vtec engagement point, toda b's/c's, etc etcf
b/c of lobe design etc etc?

particularly,
what have u guys set ur vtec xover @ with the c5 (as crossover points).
i jus need some ammo to 'explain' them to this other dood (who says that toda cams need a vtec switch at a lower rpm than stock)

thanks jdm b18c5 big cam gurus

well it all depends on what mods you have and where you start to lose power. lets say you go to a dyno and your power start to drop at about 4500, then you would set your vtec xover at that point. it might have to do with the lobe design.

All depends who's tuning the engine, what's the purpose of the tuning, and the other parts you're working with. You can have Todas engaging at a lower rpm to get more torque and a smoother curve, or have them to engage at a higher rpm for more peak power and more agressive shifting point. It can be applied to almost any cam setup.

im running the skunk2's and they for some reason fell in love with a 6500 x-over, and still have a really smooth power curve...

15 runs on the dyno, best compromise between low end torgue and highend hp was with vtec set at 6200rpm for me with my toda bs

huh?
there is only one point on each motor where the cams will make the most power
on and off vtec. that whole smoothing and peak power stuff is nonsense.
