SS Brake lines
Is it nessisary to change stainless lines every year? I used to sell the stuff and was under the strong impression for best performance it was. But then again a few people are saying its complete BS.
Please help me clarify this...
Posted here for the quick response. Searched and found good info but not the answer to my question. Saw many ITR owners are running them so i knew you guys would know.
I used to work at a wheel shop and they were recommended to be changed every year. False or not
TIA

From that I got the following:
1. Dont buy cheap lines.
2. DOT approved means nothing.
3. Get SS lines with the plastic or some kind of shield over the SS braids.

i don't think it's necessary to replace every year, but it is a good idea to inspect them on a regular basis. Make sure it's not rubbing on anything, no leaks, no fraying of the SS, not cuts or no leaks.

Thanx a ton guys i just had to clear that up.
I knew that the replacement time was in the cons of having them and was in a debate about it.

I just got some SS lines and I also don't think it's necesary to change them every year, just as long as you keep an eye on them and watch for leaks as was stated.

what companies have the ss lines with the protective plastic covering????
I managed to slightly mangle them when I was adjusting my ride height with the coilover wrenches...
but they didn't come anywhere close to exposing the wires....Good lines for the price IMHO. I've been on them for over 2yrs now.
"[BDV] Well it happened. Someone in a Buick tried to terminate his wife's life and my NSX. I panic braked, downhill, at 35 mph and managed to stop just before my two year old Comptech stainless brake-line ruptured. The pedal went to the floor. The failure was right where the plastic support is near the caliper, which is supposed to stop these kinds of things from happening."
