ls/vtec turbo, deciding on what pistons/rods???? opinions !
im turboing my ls/vtec motor that is sitting in the garage on the stand. its a 95 auto matic ls block with jdm b16a1 head. it pulled nice in my 94 hatch , considering it had all stock bottom end and some itr cams, skunk2 intake manifold.. well anyways i am going to turbo this motor. i am wondering if i should keep stnd size or go oversized pistons. they are stock sleves, will oversized put more stress on the pistons. i want to boost at least like 15 pds with my t3/60-1 garrett. or should i definately go oversized. and what rods are good to go with. im new to bottom end so i really dont know internals well. thanks
If you're planing on running 15psi with a bored over stock block your just begging for a cracked sleeve. Get your block sleeved, forged pistons like Ross or JE and use Crower or Pauter rods. Good luck.

Don't go oversized. If you want my opinion I would fully build the bottom end, sleeved, rods, pistons, the whole nine yards. If you don't have a lot of cash then do not oversize the stock sleeves. Just stick with 81mm pistons, some JE FORGED along with some Forged rods. Don't listen to everyone about bigger displacement for more power. You can always get that same power with a small displacement and the right setup. My motor is still stock bore straight 1.8l and I made 647whp. Good luck and if I were you save up and don't do it half *** the first time. I did and blew up 3 motors before sleeving my new one.
whats the max boost you can run on stock sleeves with hondata tuning
