Type R ECU In 98 GSR...
I can get my hands on a nice OB2...Egh, nice OBD2, anyway I can get my hands on a nice Type R ECU...I was wondering if it's worth it if I'm not going to convert to OBD1...If getting a Type R ECU, would be pretty beneficial...I know it's got a better fuel map and what not, I've already got my VAFC, and my CTR cams are on the way....Just food for thought, wanted to see what you guys think, thanks
No a ITR ECU would not be worth it in a GSR. Why bother? You've already got a VAFC which allows you to program your own fuel map. Besides, the ITR ECU will not control the secondaries of the IM and will probably fuel will run a bit rich for a GSR anyways. So keep the stock ECU and tune your cams w/ the VAFC you've got. HTH
you will lose power with an ITR ecu if you've got your stock dual stage gs-r intake manifold still on there. if you get a skunk2 manifold, and you can get the ITR ecu for cheap, then i say go for it.
Wut about using a 97 Type R ECU in my 96 supecharged GSR? Cud the secondary runners be activated with the Type R ECU?
I actually have a VTEC controller, boost controller and fuel regulator already. My VTEC controller does light up when in VTEC, so at least I know it's working. My main purpose on getting the Type R ECU wuz to take advantage of the fuel curves and higher redline.
On top of losing your dual runner on the GSR mani (not a good thing) The ITR ECU has the maps set for the ITR cam.... your car will run like crap and you will lose power in large parts of your powerband.
