Default Buying an Integra

Im looking at an Integra for my next car, and wanted to know if there was anything to look out for in a used (95'-99, if they make them in 99') Integra in terms of mechanical. After buying this I won't have much cash to do repairs so I want to find on in good condition.

Thanks-

don't look for any cars that have been modded....mileage is not that big of a factor....just try and do some regular maintenance...and look for any kind of damage or discoloration that might hint at body work being done...take it to a mechanic or acura dealership....they charge 75 bucks to check it from bumper to bumper and fill all the fluids too

you wanna buy the car bone stock and mileage isnt that important, but lower is always better look for rust or parts that have been painted. like look underneath the hood or trunk to see if you see any different color from the color of the rest of the car. but....

GO GET THE TEG

Check the top of the trunk, if there was wholes in it from a previous owner who had a 12 ft aluminum wing, then its not worth buying..

happy finding

why would you look under the hood and trunk for discoloration, these parts aren't touched by the sun and weathering and chances are if you get an older used car they will be a slighty different color.

Do the carfax report, check for maintenance records, and of course test drive it. What I found useful when buying my used teg is just patience. Take your time and go over the entire car, point out every little thing that is wrong with the interior and exterior and use that as a bargaining tool.

well, yes they can be cocky, just a tip always search first and make sure it's in the right forum.. but I think the search engine on this forum sucks, so you could just say I searched but couldn't find anything

good luck! hope you find a good integra and tell us about it first!

Timing belt is a major service that needs to be done @ 90K miles- make sure the car had this done if it is around that milage. Also, Hondas run a long long time, so milage is not too big a concern.

the 3rd generation integra was available from 94-01. And i'm sure that within those many production years, there will be one in ur price range that you can find. But like they said, you want to ask about their maintenance of the vehicle and pay particular attention to the major maintenance work like timing belt, waterpump, etc.

I'm definitly looking at the third gen's...........Now for a total newbie question-I know there are different types of Integras i.e GSR, Type R, etc. What are all the different types and the differences specifically in terms of engines. Obviously I've heard alot of good things about GSR's and the Type R is great but a little ouside my budget. Which one should I go for?

Type-R was made for enthusiasts. major difference that sets it off from the others is no sunroof, 195bhp w/ vtec, stiffer chasis, reduced weight, and minor cosmetic differences.

GS-R is the compromise between Type-R and GS. you get luxury and power. the chasis is the same as the GS, but it comes w/ more power (170bhp w/ vtec).

There's also a few others .. but the most popular is probably the LS (and the rest of them, engine wise, is the same). it comes in at (i think) 130bhp .. no vtec. um. i dunno. just go with a gs-r.

It all depends on what you want to do too. A turbo GSR should put out more power than a Turbo LS - but the LS should handle more abuse and are a hell of a lot cheaper to mod IMO
