Default DC 4-2-1 Header/ AEM cai problem!

Ok here we go! I purchased a used AEM CAI for my 94 GSR approximately 2 months ago off of ebay. It was used for a year and in mint condition and I only paid $90. I received a brand new filter with the piping, however it didn't fit. So, I decided to use my 3" Accord K&N filter on my 2.75" GSR pipe because that's all I had. I used a sleeve i got at home depot to connect the two because I was at the end of the install and really had no choice, it worked but not as well as a proper fitting filter. I looked for a sleeve to connect the pipe to the filter properly for the past few weeks with no luck. So, now I am going to have to buy a new filter for my GSR from K&N and I am planning to to buy a set of DC SPORTS 4-2-1 CC headers, never used, from someone in texas for $225 plus shipping. However, I just found a person locally who is willing to sell me a AEM CAI and DC SPORTS 4-2-1 CC Headers both used for a year for $250 total. The filter does need a recharge tho. So should I buy a new filter from K&N and the mint headers in texas for $225 plus shipping or just get the two items locally? If I go local there is no shipping and I can sell the piping on ebay because all I really need is the filter. So Basically IF I go local in the long run it will cost me in the $200 range and If I go out of state in the long run it will cost in the $300 range. I plan on keeping my car for a while. Which way would you go? Also, is a recharged K&N Filter as good as a New one? How long do CC headers last, I do live in the northeast!Help!

buy the local one, and buy a k/n filter online

install your header, recharge the used filter and sell off the cai with the new filter

I would find a new filter elsewhere and save for a better performing header. Or, if you are really intent on buying the intake/header combo, keep the filter and sell the piping and the header to help pay for a different header. The common theme here is that you probably want to run a different header regardless of the route you choose with the filter.

Personally, my header choices would be limited to a "budget", and an ideal choice, since I see no reason to spend on one of the more expensive, intermediate choices. My "budget" choice (and the one I currently run) would be DC's JDM 4-1. Ideally, I would (and will) run an SMSP.
