Why is it when its cold, my sunroof sometimes doesn't open? It only happens on cold nights and needs an extra push for it open.

i heard wd40 isnt good to apply. Rather lithium grease, it goes for 1.99 at autozone. I gotta pick some of that up soon

Yup, I use white lithium grease to lubricate my sunroof rails. You can use WD40 to clean, but don't use it as the only lubricant.

Yup... cuz it dries! Me and my roommate, Pdcdragon, put some lithium grease on his sun roof and it opens really well... it used to rattle before. (But his window never had a problem with opening too slowly.) At any rate... it doesn't hurt your car!

I had the same problem a couple days ago, it would even shutter, I had to help it close. WD-40 did the trick, its opening and closing better too because its warm.

Use lithium grease and not wd40. Wd40 is a good cleaner, but it'll eventually leave the rails very dry and unlubricated. Bad.

No kidding? I should buy a Cavalier or other "american" car and enjoy replacing all the overseas parts on it when the fail prematurely by the "planned obsolescence" standard. By the way, my HONDA is made in the US. If you don't believe it, look at the driver's door jamb. Printed there is MADE IN USA. You should get your facts straight before spouting off.

As for the WD40, it melts the grease off the track and is not recommended. White lithium grease is the ticket.

Just lube the rails with grease, it'll work like a charm!

lube up the moving parts and then clean the sealing area. when it gets dirty and sticky the cold weather can make it hard for the roof to open. cleaning the rubber seal around the edge helped mine a lot.
