zc rebuild
90 crx .. pretty much stock w/ zc dohc black valve cover and dc 4-2-1 header. stock airbox stock internals no forced induction.
pretty much its not running as well as i would like it right now. i don't drive it on a regular basis now due to the new car being my DD. i was thinking about a rebuild on the motor to improve performance driveability. the motor burns a little oil now and there is a small amount of blue smoke trough the exhaust when the car accelerates hard. is a rebuild a cost worthy idea on a zc ? what kind of money would this entail and what is basicly replaced during a rebuild ? any help you guys can give ?

some people won't think its a cost worthy idea to rebuild a zc since you can get a "new" one for less than you can rebuild one. i think its worth while b/c you end up with a motor that is essential new.
as for what you replace during a rebuild, it can depend. you will want to replace:
- all seals/gaskets
- piston rings
- bearings (main, rod, thrust)
- oil pump
- water pump
- timing belt
for my rebuild i ended up getting new pistons and using some shot peened d16a1 rods with arp rod bolts. besides that everything i mentioned i replaced.

so did it run good after it was rebuilt ? the money isn't really an issue as long as i have something that runs smooth and won't screw up when someone is test driving it to buy it in 6 months.
