Default I finally did it

Well guys, I finally went up to IAS on friday and put a deposit down on a JDM B16 SiR II. I am sooooo happy. They are puttin the clip in the shop this cominng thursday to pull it, clean it and check it out. I should be picking it up in like 2-3 weeks. (gotta find a place to put it). I am hoping to do the swap myself with the help of a few of my friends. Anyone have a Helms manual i can borrow or perhaps purchase fairly cheaply? Which helms do i need anyways? 99-00 si? or the one for my car a 97 ex?
WOO HOO!!

Actually, both manuals would be nice. You should try posting this in the hybrid section though, that's where the swap tech is. You might get more useful info there.

Hey man, congrats but there is a problem, the B16 from an Sir II is obd1 and your car is obd2. Are u changing to OBD1? I know Larry Jr. will get u straightened out on this. He's a great guy and he may have already got you set up. just wondering. And you could really use both manuals, but if its the wiring you are looking for heres a link that will help:

http://tech.hybridgarage.com/tech/6gtech/index.html

and by the way good luck. remember to hope for the best but plan for the worst. You should get everything u need from IAS, but theres always those unexpected issues. I'm in Spartanburg by the way, if u need help with the swap let me know, but I'm sure u got friends down there who are experienced with it.

well i know its OBD I and i have OBDII if i thought wiring was going ot be too bad i was going to get a jumper from Kenji... not bad price at 170 shipped. Also, if you have done a swap and are knowledgeable, i may be callin you if you dont mind. I am kinda of nervous about it all, and any extra help is always good. I'm thinking everything will go good, but i'd really like to get my hands on some Helms Manuals. Anyone know if there is anything online for this? My friend found an entire helms manual online for his lude....anything?

I'm jealous Congrats though.

If you go to http://www.hasport.com and look under swap tech you should find some useful info (don't know if it'll help but it's somethin to read) You will probably need the Helm's for both cars. Good Luck and have some fun!

How much are b16s going for now? I'm guessing fairly cheap.

guess it depends on where u get it... IAS is of course a bit more expensive, but no shipping for me, and its pretty much guaranteed to be a good motor..... still waiting on info on Helms Manuals. Can u find them at the library?
<--cheap...just spent all my money on an engine

It shouldnt matter how much the helms manual is. The Helms manual is the best thing to purchase when you are doing anykind of work on a car. ANY question you should have, it answers. It may not seem like you will be needing it for that much, but trust me, you will use it more than you think. Dont be cheap, buy a Helms, you wont regret it.

I'm no newbie, I know exactly what I bought. There are reasons behind it. 1. I am in college and budget is a huge thing for me. 2. When i graduate, i plan to buy a b20 block build it up, swap the head and tranny over to have a good dedicated motor.

So i figure i started with a good base to get me through the next few years till i can afford to do everything that I really want to do. Not all of us have the hookups that a certain few members have.

In your case I would probably get the helms manual for the engine if you had to choose one. Since the cars are the same gen, they cant be that different except with engine.

No worries man, you can get the Helms manual for what you need, and you only have to buy one!

The Helms includes 96-00 Civics all trims. I actually have one...they're neato.

Spend the 65 bucks or whatever, I can bet the manual will be handy more than a few times in the future. (Especially if you deal with wiring.)

Buy a Helms manual for a 2000 Civic (It should include the Si as well as EX,DEX, etc...). That way you basically have details about your motor and details about the B16 you are buying as well. I am not 100% sure that the Si is included, but in the helms manual I have for my 1992 Civic it covers the Hatchback and Sedan (no coupes were offered in 92) and covers all motors that were available in 1992 Civics

Guys, the Helms service manual for the 2000 Civic includes 1996-2000 year Civics, all trims, all models! I am not sure if you can actually buy a 2000 only Helms (the single Helms manual covers 96-00), I only remember seeing the one I got when I ordered.
