Default side wall height affectting traction?

i was pondering this theory in my head about side wall height and it's affect on breaking loose. i tipically run 205 40 16's. when i take my car (s) to the track i feel as if i have a good idea when my tires are going to break loose. i was wondering if this has to to do with the side wall height more er less like if i was top but a set tires that have higher bigger side walls the tires would have a more of a tendence to role than to just break lose? i know the side wall height is going to have a affect but how much?

Yes they help to an extent. Do the big time racers run low profile slicks? nope!
