88-89 are interchangeable and 90-91 are interchangable..

im pretty sure if its a jdm si-r cluster you will need a 90-91 plastic hood on it. i have not seen a si-r cluster that will fit a 88-89 small gauge hood.

most of the people who sell things as "88-91" don't understand that there were several small changes over the course of the fourth generation.

most of the parts that aren't universal can be broken down one of two ways:

(1) 88/89-91
(2) 88-89/90-91

there were a number of changes made after 88, and a number more after 89. i do not know if there are any real differences between the 90 and 91 model years. those in the know will usually offer more specific information than "88-91"...i cringe every time i see someone on ebay selling front seats or something on ebay and listing it as "88-91" when their item most certainly will not work with all those years.
