Well, my luck... my 99 gsr was hit by a snowplow while parked in front of my house the other night and the idiot took off. I cant really afford $1500+ extra a year for collision coverage, so my insurance company wont cover it. I need a whole new front bumper/right fender. The color is flamenco black pearl.

actually... my neighbor saw him hit the car. He said it was a mid to late 80's blue ford pickup, so Im assuming that they were under contract..

 

was he ploughing a neighbors drive way? if so ask the neighbor the name of the guy and go after him in small claims court.

 

thats a good idea... but... he was just doing the roads

I would go straight to the cops, tell you story, demand to see the contract companies and go on a ******' rampage!!! I might even go as far as dropping a lil baloon filled with drain-0 in their gas tank

having a car you love + not having full coverage =

 

i know.. thats what I have spinning through my head right now. the estimate was 1856.00. I can get a full jdm front end from passwordjdm for 1699+ shipping. then i would just have to lay out the cost of install + paint. its defnitely something to think about

well i guess this is a lesson learned.. EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE FULL COVERAGE

well kommander.. you have to realize my car is only worth about 3 grand to the insurance company.. so full coverage would be stupid.

Anyway.. that sucks ***.. you should def. contact the police AND city and get **** straitened out.. that is complete BS and you should not have to pay for that.

 

not it wouldnt.. if something happened.. u pay a deductable, which usually is only around $500.. OR they will basically buy you a new car.. full coverage is never stupid..

 

All im saying is that 1500$ for 4 years of collision coverage adds up to 6000$. I never crashed my car, so basically if you take the 1800 that I have to shell out for this BS, im still 4200$ up from what I would have spent on collision coverage...

That doesnt always make sense, if i had full coverage, in less then 2 years i would have paid more in insurance than my whole car is worth.

thats a good way to look at it since this happened, but you gotta find more about the guy that plowed the streets...WTH you should've done that already if you knew your neighbor saw it.
[but yeah, like said earlier, get full coverage~ its worth it since u have a nice car]

I've gotta back up MTK Kommander here... How could you have a nice fixed up car... with no full coverage? thats just What if some stupid idiot hits ur car... like this example... u never know what will happen... better safe then sorry... thats wat i say... there is a bunch of scenarios that could happen... Like if your a student like me or just damn broke...You would be assed out if someone hit u or if u hit someone... Then wha? you'll be wishing you had full coverage w/ that $500 deductable

 

find out who the company is that has the contract to plow the street where your car was located and speak with the owner or someone in management. explain that you have received an estimate for $2k, and that you plan on suing them unless they will compensate you themselves in full + some money for your time and trouble in having to track down their hit-and-run driver. complete crap that the guy wouldn't stop and do the responsible thing...
