Advantages of resonator over cheap glasspack?
I'm getting a custom exhaust, and I'm trying to decide how to keep it quiet. Resonators are a lot more expensive than a cheap glasspack muffler. I was wondering what are the advantages of a resonator. I know that resonators don't have any packing in them, and they deaden the noise in a different way than mufflers. Do they make the exhaust a lot quieter? Do they give it a different "tone"? Are they a lot lighter? Thanks for any info.
Glasspacks melt. If you have any concern for what your car sounds like stay away from them.
edit- Resonators deepen the exhaust note but you still need a muffler if you want it to sound decent. Resonators go in mid-pipe usually a foot or two after the cat.

Yes I am talking about using a cheap glasspack right after the cat in place of a resonator or mabe even inplace of the cat. Thanks for the replies. Anyone else have an opinion?

A resonator will deepen the tone of your exhaust.. I would stay away from the glass pack..
