B&M shifter vibration?
How's everyone doing? I recently installed a set of ES shifter bushings and a B&M shifter. At upper RPMs the shfter seems to be rattling off the bolt to the linkages. I removed the plastic sleeve off of either side of the original rod and reinstalled it with new o-rings. Was i supposed to put the plastic back on or did I use the wrong diameter o-rings? It doesn't feel like the noise is heat shield related. Aside from the annoying rattle over 4000 RPM or so the unit works well and the feel is solid. Anyone else have this experience? Thanks and hope to see some of you this summer!

That plus the straight non-bent design are the 2 reasons why I dislike B&M shifters. My $40 generic shifter has been great for over 1.5 years now, but I would love to have a Skunk2.
Mine rattles at a certain rpm too but I'm so use to it I hardly notice it anymore. In fact I hardly ever remember that I have a B&M shifter.
My B&M vibrates also, I have already fixed it once when I found that one of the nice orange silicone "bushes" had split. As the motor is getting taken out I'm going to try again and see if I can make something a little more permanent with some poly bushes or metal inserts.

What I am gathering is that this is the way it is. Anyone manage to find a solution before I get back underneath her? I am thinking of installing a poly sleeve around the through bolt to keep it quiet (I'll check the orange bushings as well). I'll keep you posted.
Replace the orange o-rings on the shift collar with some that are slightly larger. You will need to grease them really well to fit the collar back in. Put only one large o-ring on one end of the collar and put the other (3 I think) ones all on the other end. It won't completely go away, but the rattle will be greatly reduced.

Are we talking the plastic collar that comes off the through bolt? Also, 3 on driver's side or passenger side?.
By moving the gold piece this far in the shifter, you will be centering the 2 smaller o-rings in the hole on the bottom of the shifter and reducing metal to metal contact.

Or you could just get a section pressed in to do away with the o-rings altogether and get rid of the buzzing. You could also put a bend in the shifter so you can put a cup in the holder and not worry about hitting it.
