Default Beware of Jason Fama, aka nwarp, pr0n - scammer alert!

Jason Fama
2001 E Lainie St
West Covina, CA 91792
(626) 290-1475

I believe that I was scammed by Jason Fama, aka pr0n, nwarp, jasonfama@hotmail.com, amalgamist@hotmail.com, amalgamist@yahoo.com and c0nartist@hotmail.com. On February 21, I purchased a set of alleged '97 Acura Integra GS-R headlights from him, to replace a broken right headlamp on my car. Jason had offered his headlights as being in mint condition, so I simply requested that he bubble-wrap and pack them in styrofoam peanuts or crumpled newspaper, as well as IM or e-mail me the tracking # once shipped.

However, Jason never did IM or e-mail me the tracking #, despite claiming that he just had it in his car the last time that he responded to my contact attempts, on February 24. In fact, despite nearly daily requests for the tracking #, the package finally came in on the 28th without ever hearing back from Jason.

When the package finally did arrive, I discovered that the headlights had been packed side-by-side facing up in a 14x14x10 box barely big enough to hold them, and protected only by some newspaper. Because of the extremely tight fit, and the fact that Jason did not remove the metal brackets, when subjected to your typical FedEx handling during shipping, one of mounting tabs broke off the back of the headlight housing, taking with it a good portion of the housing. And the headlight lenses, rather than being mint, look pitted and hazed, and appear to have at least one crack developing.

I have since attempted to contact Jason several times, through IMs, e-mails, phone calls (during which he acted like he could not hear me -- even calling me back once to do his Hello? Hello? Hello act), and voicemail, but he appears to be avoiding and/or ignoring me. In fact, he had just been online at 6:44AM on March 4, and immediately went offline after I sent him one last IM asking for his help in this matter. I have grown tired of his runaround, as I treat people much better than that, even though I've given away most of my used parts just for the shipping cost. I paid Jason exactly what he asked for his headlights, and all that I asked in return was that he get them to me safely.

Attached below are the numerous e-mails, as well as the IMs still remaining on Honda-Tech, documenting my repeated attempts to contact Jason with regard to this matter.

You may wish to watch out for this guy.

Jason,

I imagine that you've received my IMs, e-mails, phone calls and voicemail with regard to the package with your Integra headlights arriving damaged. FedEx will be picking it up today to do a package damage inspection, but even if they were to accept responsibility for the broken right headlamp, in spite of the packaging, the claim cannot be processed without your help. If you will not contact FedEx, at least please provide me the information that I requested in my last e-mail.

Jason,

I called FedEx earlier tonight to have them issue a FedEx Ground damaged call tag for inspection of the damaged right headlight. The damaged call tag confirmation number is US000130620XXXX, and the package is scheduled for pick-up between 8AM and 5PM tomorrow. I started to fill out the FedEx Claim Form, but need the FedEx Ground Customer Shipping Record in order to complete the required information. Would you either mail or fax a copy to:

Thanks,

Jason,

The headlights arrived on Friday at my sister's house, and I got them from her last night. Upon cleaning them up and inspecting them more closely today, I discovered that the RH headlight had been broken in shipping. Because the box was barely any larger than the headlights, enough crushing force was placed on it to break off one of the mounting tabs in back. I don't imagine FedEx would cover the damage in this case, since the box is not noticeably damaged, and they'll surely claim it was not properly packed.

Jason,

Would you e-mail me the tracking info, so I can know when to expect the headlights? I really need to know, so I can make plans with the body shop.

Thanks,

Hernan

I'm glad that you've had better luck than I, but I only discovered that pr0n is now nwarp purely by chance, while searching on "JDM ITR wing" earlier today, and in the course of the same thread found out that he apparently does not even own a '97 GS-R, but a '94, to sell me '97 GS-R headlights in the first place (see https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id...186544#4186544).

thanks for the bumps for resolution, but I don't think this guy will be responding anytime soon... wouldn't surprise me to see him pop back up under a separate, new username...

Well, unfortunately, in my case, he lied first about the year and condition of his headlights, and then packaged them so poorly, with no bubble wrap and so little room or packing materials for cushioning, that the driver-side headlight returned from the FedEx damage inspection with a newly-broken upper mounting tab. In fact, the way that they were packed, side-by-side facing up, there was barely enough room even to close the box lid, which resulted in the original damage to the passenger-side headlight lower mounting tab/headlight housing and possibly in what looks like a star crack on the driver-side headlight lens. Take a look at a 94-97 Integra headlight, and you'll see, just from its dimensions, that a box 14x14x10, with barely any newspaper tossed in, does not remotely meet the packaging guidelines for shipping together two fragile headlights.

Update: In a letter that I received today, FedEx declined the claim, due to the improper way in which Jason Fama had packaged the headlights.

I don't know... I would really just like to get my money back from him, especially now that FedEx has denied the damage claim, but that's not likely to happen. Any suggestions?

I've dealt with Jason before and bought a moroso oil pan from him. He gets on top of things and shipped it right out. Maybe he's been busy or have personal issues, but he's an honest guy. Wish you good luck on your headlights.

So far all the people who have vouched for Jason Fama seem to have purchased from him items that were not anywhere as fragile as a pair of Integra headlights, and which probably would have survived even mediocre packaging. If he is not a scammer, why did he:

1. Claim '94 headlights with typical wear were "mint" '97s
2. Basically blow off all contact attempts once he had my money
3. Package the bare headlights in way too small a box, lined only with newspaper (which was not even crumpled)
4. Ignore all contact attempts once I notified him that the headlights had arrived damaged
5. Play dumb on the phone
6. Change his username from pr0n to nwarp right after I reported him to the mods
7. Stop logging in as nwarp altogether right after I started this thread (Anyone know what he's going by these days?)
8. Not ever contact me to arrange for the return of the damaged headlights and issue me a refund

If it walks like a duck...

Below is a quick blurb of the FedEx response, a copy of which was also sent to Jason Fama. He still has not done anything to resolve this matter.

Claimant#: N/A
Amount: $100.00 USA
Received: 03/12/2003

Dear Customer:

We've concluded our investigation of the above referenced claim. After inspecting the package, we conclude the damage was a result of inadequate packing. Based on this information, we must respectfully decline liability for this claim.

A copy of the damage inspection report is included for your records.

If you have any questions about preparing your packages for shipment, please refer to the Service Guide...

...

Sincerely,

Kathleen Buck

Yup, bonitapplebaum is the very same scammer formerly known as pr0n (and nwarp). The phone number is an exact match.
