I've heard of people putting these over their intercoolers for a more "stealthy" appearance (prevent theives etc). I was wondering if anyone had any pics if they could please post.

Well the guy who did do that (green ek) car got broken into. So it didnt really prevent theft.

Is spray painting an intercooler safe?? I've heard of people doing it, but it just doesn't sound good for the engine/intercooler.

 

i dont see how it could harm it unless you just got done painting it and then you go and drive it up in boost,..i think you would be okay as long as its dry

 

I've also heard people talk about using the hose on the intercooler...I'd feel better using paint instead.

back to the original topic... does anyone have a picture of their intercooler covered in panty hose...

painting wont hurt and intercooler. All the outside crap (fins ) are just for increased surface area to cool the intake charge. The intake pipe is sealed so painting the intercooler wont do anything to it performance wise. Id say just get a big ricey mesh insert to cover it up

i've herd of people using it as a filter for the turbo, i don't suggest it, a buddy of mine had his get sucked in and it blew the turbo.
