Default how do i improve my integra's handling?

Hi guys,

I'm a college student and my daily driver is a bone stock 2000 Integra LS Coupe that's just had the 30,000 mile maintenance done. I'm looking to gradually improve the car's handling and was wondering what the logical sequence for doing this would be. Since it's going to be done gradually as I save up money, I need to know not only what to do, but in what order to do it. For instance, I've been wondering whether to first upgrade my stock wheels and rubber or whether upgrading the suspension components should take first priority. Thanks.

yeah upgrade the crappy stock tires first, then get some springs/shocks/alignment, bigger rear swaybar, and finally strut/tie bars.

stock michelins suck like crap.... but do things sensibly.. i mean if you have plenty of tread left, and ur a college student (usually meanin little cash flo) then i would rather get some more miles out of those tires rather than go out n spend cash on a new set of tires. Thats my opinion anyway....

As for suspension, yea get some nice springs wit a shock that can handle them. And if you plan on droppin low then pick up a camber kit.

the ITR (integra type R) rear sway bar upgrade is something that is VERY highly recommended on this board simply because its an outstanding upgrade to what comes stock on ur car and is relatively a cheap mod.

if you have right drill bits and time, you could do itr sway bar with bsq kit yourself. and definitly new tires. anything but those stock tires... kumhos for me at tirerack.com were 60 bucks each and pretty good tires for that price.

What is this bsq kit you speak of? I mean I know it's supposed to be a metal spacer thingy to bolt on type r sway bars to non-type rs. I meant where can you get this kit? And about how much does it cost?
Thanks

for a newbie with a well-worded post. most new guys on this board say "y0 whiCh eXhAuST gives me tHa maDD poWWAA y0"

and everyone else has said what should be said. my personal order of preference would be ITR rear sway bar, coilovers, tires.

I heard if you upgrade to the 24mm ITR sway bar without properly bracing the subframe, you'll eventually rip it out.

That's why company's like Comptech and Suspension Techniques integrate the lower tie bar with the sway bar, for subframe reinforcement.

Just a thought. I've also heard of people that had no problems with this type of isntall. But they also just turd their car around town.

Sure the S-03 are better, but you're paying much more.
Kumhos are great bang for buck.
If you want the best, the go S-03s.

yea when i was commenting about the kumhos bein good for what they are... its not the end all be all of performance tires at all, but definitely good for their price and they last longer than the more expensive higher performance tires ya kno? I'm more than happy with them myself, and wouldnt recommend something i wouldnt use on my own car to others so..

As your doing I would plan it out. You'll save money in the long run. The best bang for the buck IMO is the 22mm swaybar kits. Followed by tires, then struts/springs. Don't cheap out on the struts and springs. Buy decent stuff and you'll be more happy with it. I have Koni Yellow and GC sleeves with Eibach coilover springs, but if you just want better daily driver performance KYB AGX and some sport springs will probably be a good bet.

Just do some research and find out whats out there. It sucks to buy stuff then want better stuff.

that's even true with the 22mm oem itr sway bar. most of use have learned from other people's mistakes and went with the Beaks or bsq...or just made their own. I did and i love that bar.

buy a set of used ITR springs/struts and ITR rear LCA's. if u look around u can find a great deal on all three for about 3 bills. then add the ITR rear sway bar either new or used. that would be the best bang for the buck suspension mod.

I have a 96 Integra. It handles as follows: When I drive over any slightly irregular road suface the steering wheel and car are abruptly jerked to the right or left. The dealer says this is normal. I am ready to sell the car. Does anyone else know about this. I have had no accidents. The car tends to need a front and rear aligment about every 4 months. What's going on. Even if this is "normal" how can I correct this problem.
