Guys with GSR gauge cluster into CRX, need help fast???
O.k. there are about 2 different instructions on how the wiring works. They are slightly different. My question is, do I go by the color of the wires or the location using GettoCRxsi's write up since my plugs have same color in different locations? Any help would be grealty appreciated, thanks.
My friend put this in his crx> almost all the colors are the same. Minus the srs,cruise,Ect.... The only problem was the gsr speedometer runs of a speed sensor, not a cable. We never figured that part out.
Speedsensor, get one from a 92+ honda tranny, I got mine off a prelude, just make sure you have pin configuratioin. 3 wires, one for ground, power, and speed sensor signal. Run those wires, run sensor back to tach, and tap it back to ecu side if your running a PR3 ecu so vtec can kick in.
I got my cluster at home, jsut itching...
I wanna get my car running normally first, so I can make sure everything is working before I start cutting wires...
Got my cluster in trade for a used Deltagate, and the wiring for the cluster from a friend for next to nothing, like $2-3.
I'll sell cluster AND wiring and forget about this upgrade for $100 if anyone's interested.

so did you already wire everything? or did you just get the stuff but to lazy to do it.
and how does this cluster fit in a crx is there citting and stuff involved?

Nothing has been cut/worked on yet. No point without the harness in the Civic being cut up, which as I said, I don't want to do yet.
I didn't get lazy, but I can probably get back to this later, I could just use the money for other things right now.
Use the search function to find out about the cluster. There were 4 or 5 posts about it with a few great links explaining the entire process.

If you want to see how to do it check out my origonal post on this.

Has a wiring table that I made and it also tells about how to hook up the electronic vss. The wiring is only for 90-91 but it has to be only changed a little for 88-89 wiring.
here are pics of the cluster installed

is everything functional on your cluster? what about lighting, the lights that come on when the parking lights are on and also like turn signals? did you get all those to work? that cluster looks really good in your car and it makes me want to do it too

here is the wiring diagram that I used. Worked perfectly. Just remember that you need an electronic VSS. Make sure that you hookup the vss wire from the ecu to the cluster. If i remember the ecu to vss wire on the 90-91 civics is wht/red. This wire needs to be tapped into the orange wire in order for the ecu to receive signals from the VSS. BTW you need to go by the location and the wire color. Both are important as different plugs may have the same wire coloring. If you have any questions PM me.

in the directions listed here http://www.angelfire.com/dc/oregonimport/gsr.html it says for 94-99 teg clusters, would the 2000 clusters be the same??? or doesnt it matter as long as i get a set of 94-99 clips?
Well when I tried with a 2001 r cluster it was acting really weird. Like it had a bad ground or something. So I think the pinning is different. If you can get a wiring diagram I would be able to tell you. Im just too lazy to look for one since I have a 98 gsr cluster and a 98 r cluster

There is a 10mm bolt. Loosen it and the vss should come right out. You may have to pry just a little to get it to pop out. Good luck!
ahhhhhh that cluster look very nice in the crx! would the wiring be the same if i used a 94 integra Ls cluster instead of the gsr cluster? my friend has one layin around he said i can use to do it. and also say i were to get a jdm civic type R cluster.... how would the wiring be for that? thanx

Some of the wires on teh 88-89 are indifferent spots. Go to yahoo and search for 88-89 si cluster swap. Or do it on honda-tech here.
Also you can us ls/gsr/type R. As long as its 1998 or 1999 or older So far to my knowledge.
Its very easy to do actually. I was thinking of putting a 00 si cluster into a 88-89 cuz there houseing are more square.
Wiring would be a little diff but not hard. Hardest thing would be fitting it
