Recommended direct speaker replacements for my 95 Teg?
Sorry, I would do a search, but I really have no idea what brand or model number of speakers to base my search on, so I'm starting this one.
My current stock speakers sound kinda blown (even tho i don't turn them up high), but i'm looking for something with a richer, deeper bass, that I can directly bolt on to the stock speaker locations
I'm currently running and older Pioneer deck, P808, i think it's 45x4, so kinda weaksauce, but that's all i have
i will be putting in single Type S 12" w/ mono amp this weekend, but I will periodically remove it for the auto-x, so I need something w/ pretty decent sounding in between.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! And when swapping the front speakers, do u guys replace the tweeters as well? or do u just go with a 2/3way?

Your system will be bass heavy and sound like *** until you upgrade your interior speakers. I would recommend that you go out and listen to various brands. Try to find people with the same car, go to CC or BB, etc... Oh yea, local car audio shops have nice selections too (sometimes)

but anyone w/ first hand experience and didn't spend a fortune?
You can get a decent set of coaxials for $50-100 online. Let me know what kind of sound you like and I'll toss you some suggestions.
Quick response!
Quick response!
i like the high crisp, but not to the point where it bleeds my ears
and of course, good mid-low range is a must
thnx for the quick reponse too!

A seller on ebay has Eclipse 6.5" coax for $53 a pair + S&H They sound pretty good, especially for the $. caraudiowarehouse is the name. Or for $79 + S&H I saw MB Quart coax. 6.5" on Ebay as well. I don't think you'd be dissapointed with either one especially the MB Quart. I ordered an MB Quart reference component set. It should be here tomorrow and I can't freakin' wait.
I'd go with 2 ways over 3 ways, and stay away from MB Quarts, their tweeters will make your ears ring.
I have no Idea about your stock tweeters, I would see what it sounds like with them just for the hell of it. The only thing is that your headunit might not like that if the resistance drops below 4Ohms.

My favorite speakers for a tight budget would be a lower model MB Quart i was running a car full about a month ago and recently upgraded to Focal Poly Kevlar(you probably dont wanna spend that much $$$) I definately say the MB Quart or Eclipse my GF has all Eclipse mids and highs and they sound awesome, real crisp and clear with nice mid bass not a whole lot but very clean!
I went to this one store yesterday, and the only thing that sounded decent running off a headunit were these JL Audio TR components.
since they didn't have MB or BA or Infinity at the store, I couldn't compare the diff
do anyone know how these components compare to other components out there?
and thanks for the responses guys

I've listened to the JL audio components, they're not bad but not great either. Better speakers can be had for the price. You should check out Diamond audio as well. Diamond started out making computer speakers. As far as Focals, they are kenwood products. I like Alpine headunits and speakers better than kenwood's. All ears are different.
There are 2 different settings for MB Quart tweeters, both of which are configured at the crossover. If you don't want loud tweets set the cut at the crossover. Or turn down your treble. Simple as that, they are great speakers.

They sound mighty harsh to me, attenuated or not.

There really is such a thing as metallic tweeter ppl and soft dome tweeter ppl. Vifa makes an in between tweeter, it's like rubber or something.

Ok so everyone knows that Kenwood is a Japanese company rigt??? ok good i hope everyone also knows that Focal is a French company...so as far as kenwood making focal...not really, and also when you can tell me a set of mids and highs that out do and are proven to outdo focal dont bash them
I just installed JL Audio XR 5.25" Components in my 97 integra. They are running off of a couple year old sony xplod deck (getting new one soon) and they sound very good. The bass response from the mids is nice and reminds me of when i use to have a set of subs. These Speakers retail for $380 , i got them brand-new off of ebay for $180 plus shipping. This set of speakers also allowed me to replace the stock tweeters and feature a tweeter aiming harness thing that allows you to turn and aim the sound coming from the tweeters where you want it.
