del Sol Carbon Fiber Roofs update
Tim is in the process of making the carbon fiber roofs, so hopefully we will have some ready to go within a few weeks. Right now, I am hoping to get some pre-orders to help cover my up-front costs so I can get some other projects going.
The price for the carbon fiber roof will be $460. Shipping should be in the ballpark of $30 depending on where you are. Original estimates were almost $100 more, so this worked out well for everyone interested.
To answer a few questions up front:
- You use your current factory locking mechanisms/seals. This is just the targa top.
- Install is simple. 7 bolts on each side. Unbolt those, pull factory locking mechabism/seal stuff off, put factory stuff on new roof, rebolt and you are good to go. Takes 15-20 minutes tops.
- If your roof leaks now, it will still leak after this, since you are using your factory seals.
- The fiberglass prototype fit perfect, was excellent quality, did not leak (even under high water pressure), did not make noise at freeway speeds, passed the daily driving tests and weighs less than half what your factory top weighs.
- Yes, we can do colors. Figure on about $75 more for that option.
- No, we do not have pics of the carbon fiber one yet. Those will be posted as soon as we do. I promise!
- No, I do not have prices on the fiberglass versions. Tim should be getting back to me on that very soon and I will change this line when he does.
We have enough interior pieces from Ameripol to make six roofs, so be the first kid on your block with one of these! If you want one, let me know.
I can also get the carbon fiber trunks for del Sols too.
