my poor rex has rust all under the pass side door jam... it sucks... i will prolly just cut it out and weld in a piece of sheet metal... what kind of weld do you use for this? I can spot weld it at the botom where it meets the unibody but what about where I am welding it to the actual fender?

Im not exactly sure, but i dont think that part meets the fender(front right?) Because the fender can just be bolted off.. Rather it stops there, and i guess connects to the front chasis somewhere... Or do you mean the rear panels? In that cause you can do the same thing just cut it out and weld.. I have no idea about welding, or anything.. So i wouldnt know what to do.. But im pretty sure you wont want to weld the fender to the door rocker(as the guy at the body shop called it)

Another option would be to find a junk crx, or a parting out one... And cut off the whole rear panel, and weld that on... But i just brang mine to the shop, and my car had alot of rust.. So for like both sides it cost me 1000.... GOod luck...

 

Butt welds will need to be used. Then just grind them down and smooth out with a SMALL amount of body filler. I would suggest a polyester body filler if it is a a small area. That way you don't have to grind the surrounding areas down to the metal. Good luck. You PM me if you have anymore Q's

 

thanks thats the response i was looking for... i didnt mean the front fender... that would be pretty dumb... if i had a picture to show you it would be better but i dont... anyway Camohatch answered my question... Thanks again...
