This motor pumps out 217bhp at 8,000rpm and 206Nm of torque at 7,000rpm without the help of forced induction from a turbo or supercharger. The in-line four-cylinder engine gets the power down fast and furiously, with the second cam bringing in another surge at 6,000rpm. Although acceleration times could not be measured on the day of our drive, Honda claims the car takes only 14.3 seconds to cover a quarter of a mile. This is nearly a second faster than the outgoing model.
Nearly a second faster than the out going model, Man those guys cant drive worth a **** then. Must be a 13 second car when it (if) gets here.
Boba- who knows that we americans can drive better than any other country. I've got a Patriot missle to prove it.

It won't come. doesn't make any sense if we have Type S and type R
at the same time.
If there isn't any Type S, it will definitely come, but since we have type S,
there wont' be a type R. and that's why we have type S in the first place
instead of type R.

Type R is different that Type S. HOnda of Japan pointed out the differences when they were considering taking the UK Accord Type R to Japan, but they will call it Type S since its not up to type R standards. Pretty much, Type R is the maxxed out racing version, while the Type S is jsut a more pwerful version of the car without at many mods.
RSX Type S 0-60 - 7.1
About 2700 lbs? Should be faster for the weight/power ratio. Probably that damn i-vtec, I "heard" the new Hondas don't respond to modifications as well as the older cars also.
I just don't like the RSX, it looks too American [kind lurking in the shadow of the Alero bodystyle] and with that "Celica" interior. I like the new Civic coupe though, that grew on me tremendously in the past few weeks. The RSX...ehhh....I'll wait until they come out with some crazy body kits for it then I'll show some love.
As for the RSX Type R, they won't come to America, Japan always dumps the trash on American markets, and who says they won't do it once more. I'm still upset that they didn't include Recaros.
If the RSX Type R gets done being made, it won't flex the Type R "red" because Acura poses for some new marketing scheme they debuted at SEMA 2000. Acura "blue" they call it along with the new CL-S body kit. They hint at it with all the previews of the RSX in blue. And I thought the blue was Honda style.

IF RSX Type R is not coming to the US,
I think Honda/Acura doesn't count us, ITR owner as their customer!!...
But I bet they will bring the Type R here, why? if EVO comes, STI comes, most of enthusiast will leave Honda.. sales will go down... then the R will come...
I personally just love Honda so much.. getting an EVO or STI or Toyota is against my will... but if Honda/Acura is getting bad.. heh, maybe I will try different Manufacturer..
I wouldn't be Loyal to whom is not Loyal to me...
Prove it to me by taking the R here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The review said that the car is on sale in Japan. So, my question is...
WHO IN HERE IS FROM JAPAN and OWNS ONE?
I don't buy that "full second faster than the out-going model." I'll believe it when I see it.

Those fools are turbo. nobody will want that car [Type R] when you can just upgrade the turbo and gain an easy 30 horsepower. I would get an Evo over a new R. I respect Honda, love it, drive one. But unless Honda pulls out the big guns with the R, they will lose sales anway. People have been dreaming of getting those turbo cars for a long time since the gap of Japanese turbo vehicles. It will sell, but not as much. If you know what I mean.
The new JDM Type R will be pretty darn fast...Think about it...It is the exact same weight as the current model Type R...1170 KG w/o Air and it makes 25 more horsepower and about 20 more lbs of torque...Plus it has a 6 speed...I think it is going to be substantially faster...May be not a full second faster but pretty darn close! What makes me believe it is that if you put cams, header, exhaust and an intake on your car you are USUALLY lucky if you see 25 horsepower at the tire...Well 25 Horsepower at the tire is a HUGE difference...I remember when I put those items on my 97' Type R when I first owned and it only got about 20 more at the tire...The car felt A LOT faster!! I think the Type R RSX is going to be QUITE FAST!! Just my opinion...I wish we could buy those babies over here...Honda Listen to your US Market customers!! PLEASE PLEASE!!
first of all, EVO and STI are in a different class from type R, so type r costs much less than a STI and EVO. so, honda won't get the R here becuase of
there is a big sale in EVO and STI. Just like GSR and type R, why would people get GSR is type R is available, well, all because of $$... So, EVO
and STI are in a different market from integra. Also, I don't see EVO and
STI will never be as popular as integra and civic because of the price.
we all going to love them, but who will actually buy them, that's a different
question. Just like M3, will Honda brings the NSX type R here because
there is a big sale in M3? no. So, R wont' come because we already have
a type S. Just like NSX, we have Type S and not Type R here.
