IACV Problem
When I cold start the idle sucks. It doesnt go from the normal level and warm up the car and bring the idle down. It just stays at the idle that its supposed to be when its warm. I recently did a head swap and i'm using the Y7 IACV and plugged off the Y8 IACV. It lags alittle when I am still and start to accelerate. It takes about a second before it accelerates. Then it starts driving. Do i need to get a new IACV?
you did y8 head swap, did you use the y8 intake manifold as well? if so then you should also use the y8 IACV. I had the same problem when i used my stock 92 dx IACV on my y8 intake manifold because I didnt have a Y8 IACV. got one now and runs normal.
stupid question, but are the coolant lines connected to it? are you sure coolant is running through them? have you taken off the little back plate to see if its clean inside?
sorry i didn't edit, clicked the wrong button, but also, i think you need to use the IACV your car came with. that bottom end needs a certain amount of air to idle at the right rpm, and if you are using the Y8 IACV instead of the Y7 IACV, it might just not give it the right amount of air. the head really just flows the air into the cylinders.
it seems to me that the bottom end needs the corresponding IACV to idle right. i dont know for sure, just a thought.......... sorry i babbled on, i was thinking as i was typing

teal_dx, I am using the Y8 manifold but I read on the net that you can just plug the Y8 IACV and use the Y7 IACV thats on the throttle body. I also read that it was a success. They guy just swaped manifolds because of the bigger runners.
22lbGS-R, the coolant lines are connected. Coolant is defintly running in them because i took the hose off to see if coolant would come out. I am currently using my IACV from the Y7 and not the Y8s. The weird thing about this is that when I'm at idle on park or neutral the idle is around 900 rpms. When its in drive or reverse it drops to about 500 rpms. When I just try to drive the car without warming up the car ends up dying and I have a hard time trying to start it back up.
I hope anyone out there has had a similar problem and can help me out!! Thanks in advance~!

yea, you are right, you are suppose to run the y7 iacv....i dont' think its broke man. maybe dirty but not broken. not to be a dick, but did you adjust your idle? or try to?
