Default 86 CrxSi Question?

Did all the 86087 CrxSi come with the D15b7 Bottom, and the 12 valve head?
Are these 75x90 bore and stroke as well? Trying to figure out if i could use the bottom of it and put a d16a6 head on? -Thanks

i believe that all 86-87 CRX Si were D15A3 with 74mm bore & 86.5mm stroke - you might have valves hitting pistons if you put the 16 valve head on the block with pistons for only 12 valves

the motor is a d15a something or otherwise called by honda the EW4 ive heard of people putting a prelude head on or someting but its better to just toss the d15 and get a d16a1 if u can much easier to mess with more parts for it too

There has been a talk on redpepper about using a DOHC a1 head on the d15 block.... Supposedly the gasket matches, but no one has done it and got it running..

Dont count out the old EW motors... with carbs they have been known to produce alot of power....

Im goin go turbo mine down the road.. ther bottom end is pretty much bulletprof... cept for the weak bearings... supposedly there are still aftermarket ones that let you spin the motor to 9k easy..

Although swappingin a 88-89 a1 and rewiring the thing to accept electronic distrib is probably the best rout if you dont want to mess iwth carbs or the EW

I can vouch for the turbo thing. the EW's real weakness is the ecu it uses. Vacuum advance and more primative throttle body design....

Head swap it toally a no brainer. Don't try it. Drop some dough on a 1g teg doner and go to work. You can get a 1g teg for under $1000 and swap almost everything over.
