Default axles aren't going in! help

I am swapping a b18c1 into my ef. The frame is preventing the axles from going in. What should I do? Any ideas that might help would be great.
thanx

There is no way the frame should prevent yuo from using those axles. Can you explain your problem in more detail and provide pics? Are you using the right axles? Cable tranny? Which intermediate shaft?

ok the motor is a 94 gsr, and i am using a 91 ls tranny. and the problem is coming from the passenger side, where the lower control arm bolts into the frame. the axle is slightly going in but u can clearly see that is hitting the frame. and inorder for the axle to go all the way throgh you would have to hammer it in, and even when its all the way through, the inner joint is still resting on the frame. the car has been in an accident. and i know the frame is bent. is there any way around this????

Hmm. Unless you can get the frame straightened out, I don't think there's much else you can do.

couldn't i just bang that part of my frame to try to make room for the inner boot? Or would i just make matters worse?

yeah, it should rip! The question at hand is how in the world am i going to get this to work without having to pull the motor back out and drop it into another car.

i know that this is off topic of the subject, but you should probably pick up another tranny. An LS tranny is too widely geared, it is going to slow you down a lot.

Is it hitting the place where the LCA bolts in? You can maybe bang the mounting location in a little, but not too much.

Well if it messes up the handling, just race in straight lines. As for banging in the frame I don't see why not if you don't then you will never know if it would have worked eh? Just keep in my how much the mounts might flex and if it isn't banged in enough the axle will still hit it so do it enough to prevent this...good luck...peaCe

Yeah, the frame is all f*&%ed up. I just got a history report on carfax a few minutes ago and found out that the car has been in an accident 3 times. The last one was in 99. The car was declared "complete loss".

Always nice. Have you ever considered getting it "stretched" at a body shop? I hear they can attach it to big *** chains with hydraulic motors that pull the car into shape. I believe Sport Compact Car did this with their CRX project.

still trying to understand how the frame is involved in this? axel on the passenger side plugs into the tranny directly... remove the suspension to clear more room, or just the fork.. plugs into the knuckle, replace suspension fork... bolt up, button up, and you are done!

initially, the motor was built for an eg. Sold that so we could begin another project. So the I decided to put the motor into my car. That is untill i get everything that i need for my setup. No damage to the wheels or the engine bay that I can see.

i'd pull the engine out and find another car to put it in. if your frame is bent then just write off the car, it's almost impossible to pull it totally straight, and for what it's going to cost you you could probably find a shell in really nice shape.

if you're not in a rush, try and find one with a blow transmission and/or engine. you should be able to pick it up very cheap like that. you could also try and buy one from a junkyard (since you'll have parts to replace whatevers missing), and try going to a police auction. montgomery county, md, has an auction every third saturday of the month (behind the mva on clopper rd) and you could pick one up there for cheap. if you take your time you should be able to find something for pretty cheap.
